TangTing Community UK (TTC UK) is non-profit constituted organization established here in the UK in 2006. The primary objective of this organization is to unify and support the members who originally are belongs to TangTing. The community’s aim is to preserve and continue the tradition and culture that are being carried back in TangTing. The community is focused to develop and uplift the socio-economic standards of its members residing throughout the UK. The community is to delivering and providing support/s to its member/s in difficult times. For an example- personal and financial supports are given to those in need who are going through tough times such as a death of family member! The community members help each other and participate in social events of its members.
TangTing Community UK mainly organize two major events annually; one Annual Get-Together and Summer BBQ Programme during summer and Mass Picnic (Syu-Kai) Programme along with it’s Annual General Meeting during Winter which is also a kind of Christmas Celebration, English New Year Celebration and Gurung New Year (Lho-Saar) fete. Many other social and cultural events are carried out throughout the year to ensure that these rich and unique traditions are being performed even at abroad and are being preserved from being endangered.
Besides, the community is been undertaking various other projects (donation or fundraising programme) to help the motherland; TangTing and surroundings. TangTing Community UK has helped TangTing during difficult time such as when TangTing suffered from natural calamities or disasters such as flood and landslides. Also, it has ambitious projects being prepared for the future to improve the conditions of life in rural parts of Nepal. TangTing Community UK is making significant progress to improve social welfare of its members living in the UK.
In addition to these, one of the main objective of TTC UK is to encourage its youths members to take part in social and cultural activities ensuring the youth and children have knowledge and access of the mother language, tradition and culture. It allows for a better conservation of our distinct identity for future generations. TTC UK is been organizing various workshops just to help its youth for career advancement which had definitely benefitted from many aspects.
There is even a Youth Sub-Committee and a Woman Sub-Committee within the organization to ensure that their voices are heard and to encourage them and meantime to achieve its community goal.
Moreover, TTC UK has established a very strong friendship with the English Villages of Essex – Debden and Wimbish. TangTing is twinned with these village on 2009 and has established a registered charity called TangTing Twinning Association who has been helping TangTing in many ways. TangTing Community UK is aim for-
- Providing assistant to its members’ welfare,
- Providing individual and occupation support to its members when needed such as age infirmity or disability, financial hardship and difficult circumstances,
- Providing support to its members to advance in education and career by providing information and training related to the subject,
- Preserving and maintain the unique identity of TangTing by keeping its culture, traditions and costumes same as in origins.
- Performing its social activities/programmes time to time as determined by the members of the community.
